A Weave for What Ails You

  • VoxBody Studio 4120 Martin Luther King Junior Way Oakland, CA, 94609 United States (map)

If you have foundational rope experience and are ready for more, Shay and Angel have this next-step class for you!

Whatever your rigging problem, weaving is probably the answer! This class will discuss and demonstrate weaving as a general concept that can be integrated into many common ties. Weaving makes your harnesses more comfortable & sustainable, helps maintain tension while keeping bondage flat, and creates a sleek aesthetic…while also being easy to learn & execute!

We will use these techniques in teaching at least two pattern ties – a versatile woven hip harness and the “Triskilion” chest harness, which is especially well-suited for flatter chested folks.

Depending on time and class experience level, we may touch on suspension using these harnesses (note that this is a floorwork level class—suspension experience is unnecessary and uplines will not be taught), and possibly foot harness options.

Level: Intermediate (201) floor work. This class is self-tying friendly, however, the chest harness is an intermediate to advanced level self-tie that requires tying high behind your back.

Pre-requisites: Basic rope handling skills, single column ties, body awareness, knowledge of bondage negotiation basics

Supplies: 2-3 pieces of ~30 foot rope, 2-3 pieces of ~10-15 foot rope. Nylon is recommended, but jute/hemp are also fine. 6mm is recommended, but no larger than 8mm. The studio has loaner rope for attendees to use in floor ties.
